Work Begun on Cut-Off
The work of constructing the branch
from the Sussex Railroad to Stanhope to connect with the main line
of the Lackawanna road, was commenced last week. The spur will strike
the Sussex road at the foot of the mountain, near the switch leading
to Allen's quarry, instead of at Cranberry Lake.

Cut-Off Nearly Finished
The new timetable on the Sussex railroad
and cut-off has again been postponed for another week. On Tuesday
a cinder train was put on the cut-off and the road is being ballasted.
From present indications the cut-off is likely to go into service
at any time, On the 15th we will probably travel to New York via the
new route.
