Franklin RR Station Destroyed by Flames

Franklin-The century old Susquehanna and Western Railroad freight station on Maple Road was destroyed by fire last night (Wednesday) The building, 40 by 100 feet had been unused for railroad freight service for some time. Cause of the fire has not been determined.

The blaze was discovered about 10:45 p.m. and the flames spread rapidly through the tinder dry structure. By midnight the fire was extinguished, but it flared again at 4 a.m., this morning and firemen were called back to the scene. The frame structure was 1 1/2 story high in the freight storage portion and one story in the office section.
