Sussex Independent - December 1, 1911 issue
(Lafayette Section)

Those wishing to take the early train from here on Friday morning [Nov. 24] were compelled to wait for more than an hour, wondering what had caused the delay. When at last the train came in it was learned that the depot at Branchville Junction was completely burned and the train from Newton to Branchville was compelled to wait, not being able to pass the fire. This is a serious loss and very inconvenient for those who are compelled to wait at that place, sometimes for an hour. It will be rebuilt as soon as possible.
