New Jersey Herald - July 5, 1906 issue
Temporary Freight Depot

A Concrete Building on Site of Old Building.

Since the last issue of the "Herald" a force of men has been engaged in constructing a temporary freight shed in the Newton yard to accommodate the freight traffic until the completion of the new depot. The shed is located near the center of the yard along side of the track between the old freight depot and the passenger station. The shed is about one hundred feet long. The work of dismantling the old depot has made slow progress the past week owing to most of the men being at work on the temporary structure. The roof has been entirely removed and within a few days the old structure that has done service since the opening of the road about 52 years ago, will be leveled to the ground and work at once commenced on the new and more modern building. We are told that the depot will be constructed of concrete.
