Stanhope Eagle - June 26, 1901 issue
The switch track was used for the main line for the first on Sunday, while the track used for the main line from the overhead bridge to Henry Shence's property will be temporarily used for the Sussex Road when it is completed. Owing to a fire partially destroying a railroad bridge in Newark Saturday afternoon, a portion of the men working on the new bridge over the Morris Canal were taken away, and the progress on the latter structure hindered. Otherwise we were under the impression that the Sussex "cut-off" would have been completed and in use by July 4th.
