New Jersey Herald - March 11, 1869 issue

SUSSEX MILK TRAIN ON THE MORRIS ROAD -- We learn from Mr. Case, Superintendent of the Sussex Road, that when the Franklin and Branchville roads are completed, about the first of April, a Milk Train will be run in connection with the Morris road, leaving in the evening in time to arrive at Newark and New York for distribution early the morning following. The freight charge on milk will not exceed 11(?) cts. per quart, to Newark and Hoboken. We also learn that there will be a general reduction in freight charges. A milk train will also be run on the Morris Road to Phillipsburg, connecting with the Sussex milk train at Waterloo.


New Jersey Herald - May 27, 1869 issue

 EXTENSION OF THE SUSSEX RAILROAD -- The books of subscription to the capital stock of the Sussex Railroad Company, having been opened under the amended charter, at the Cochran House on Thursday last, $50,000 was subscribed by the company with a view to the completion of the road to Franklin, and its extension to the New York State line.


New Jersey Herald - August 5, 1869 issue

Accident at Franklin--Mathew Buckley, a young Irishman, employed as a laborer on the Franklin Rail road, aged 19 years, was killed by a flying fragment of rock, which struck him in the breast, killing him instantly, in the vicinity of the Fowler house, whilst blasting rocks on Tuesday the 3d inst. 


New Jersey Herald - August 5, 1869 issue
A train on the Branchville road ran through a drove of cows, belonging to Mrs. Sarah J. Shotwell, at Augusta, one day last week, killing one and injuring several others.
