Sussex Register - September 30, 1854 issue
We understand that the locomotive on the Sussex Rail Road was run to the Andover Mine, on Monday last. This is within four or five miles of Newton. The completion of the road has been so long deferred, that it needed the whistle of the locomotive to revive our faith in the possibility of having the road finished by the approaching holidays. We record the appearance of the locomotive at Andover with much gratification, regarding it as an earnest that it will ere long penetrate even unto Beach's Choice, which lieth on the borders of Newton.
